About me
I am a South African-born freelance medical writer currently based in Stamford, United Kingdom. I collaborate with medical communications agencies, biotech companies and pharmaceutical companies to transform complex medical information centred on genomics, genetics, and gene-editing into innovative content for patients and HCPs.
I did my PhD at the University of Oxford where I specialised in immuno-oncology, and later, the focus of my postdoctoral studies was autoimmunity. My transition to medcomms with a digital marketing agency began in 2019. Since then, I have worked on many exciting projects for pharmaceutical and biotech companies. I have extensive expertise developing medical content, from website copy, to training tools, to literature reviews.
One agency project in particular drove me to specialise in genomics. In early 2022, I was tasked to write about next-generation sequencing, cell and gene therapy, and mutation screening. That project was a real turning point, as it bridged my lab expertise with my passion for communications. I branched out on my own to focus entirely on genomic medicine and never looked back!
I believe that high quality medical communications materials have the potential to change lives and bring the right medications to the right patients. Are you looking for a collaborator to produce content that is powerful enough to inspire change for good?
